Aware launches with world’s first fully infield-traceable recycled polyester

Textile traceability solution provider, Aware, has successfully integrated its Aware tracer into recycled polyester filament yarn, ensuring traceability throughout the production process—from yarn creation to the final garment. This achievement is heralded as the “world’s first” fully infield-traceable recycled polyester, following two years of rigorous testing and collaboration with industry leaders Avient Corporation Shanghai and Zhejiang Haili Environmental Technology Co.

The pivotal element in this breakthrough is the Aware tracer, now detectable infield using the Aware hand scanner. This advancement provides brands and retailers an unparalleled level of transparency and traceability. By instilling confidence in the authenticity of recycled polyester products, Aware aims to contribute to a more sustainable future.

Feico van der Veen, founder of Aware, emphasizes the vision to maximize traceability in order to minimize collective impact. This achievement marks a significant step towards sustainability, allowing consumers to make informed choices and brands to genuinely showcase their commitment to recycled polyester.

Aware also introduced a Digital Product Passport (DPP) for items crafted with its innovative recycled polyester yarn. This passport empowers consumers to verify the authenticity of their purchases, aligning with Aware’s mission to restore trust in sustainable textiles. The DPP fully complies with upcoming European Union (EU) legislation, including the EU Green Deal, ensuring brands and manufacturers are prepared for evolving sustainability standards.

In a strategic move, Aware collaborates with XD Connects, a leader in the promotional goods industry. XD Connects will integrate Aware technology into their recycled polyester products in the coming year, further expanding the application of innovative traceability solutions in the textile industry.
