Avery Dennison
Materials science company, Avery Dennison, announced that it has acquired the linerless label technology created by Catchpoint, a U-based firm situated in Yorkshire, England.
Catchpoint’s patents, brand, trade secrets, and know-how are all included in the deal. Arrangements have been taken to assure the Catchpoint team’s continuous assistance. Avery Dennison will honor Catchpoint’s existing commercial commitments under the terms of the deal.
Noel Kasmi, vice-president of marketing, Avery Dennison Label and Packaging Materials EMENA, said that with the acquisition of Catchpoint, Avery Dennison will gain intellectual property that will help them achieve two of their main 2030 sustainability goals: deliver innovations that advance the circular economy and reduce environmental impact in operations and technology.
Kasmi added that as they work to make linerless labels more widely available to their customers, this technology will help them move more quickly, allowing more sustainable and cost-effective solutions to reach their customers around the world. This is cutting-edge technology that will benefit their customers as well as the environment.
Innovation in the field of more sustainable product solutions is a significant strategic objective for Avery Dennison. One area of opportunity in this area is linerless labels, which have the potential to reduce not only liner waste but also production and transportation costs.
Mike Cooper, business development director of Catchpoint, said that they’re thrilled that Avery Dennison will be acquiring their technology in order to make its goods more environmentally friendly. Bringing their technology together with Avery Dennison’s scale, market position, and industrial know-how is an incredible opportunity, and a worthy endpoint for their journey to bring linerless labeling to market.
