ASOS renews its partnership with Anti-Slavery International

Fashion retailer, ASOS, renewed its strategic partnership with Anti-Slavery International for another three years and will work with the organization to develop the next phase of its modern slavery strategy.

Since 2017, the online fashion behemoth has collaborated with Anti-Slavery International to help guide and analyze its own ethical trade strategy, as well as provide advice on how to combat modern slavery.

Anti-Slavery International will collaborate with ASOS to develop new solutions to address difficulties within its supply chain, such as ending child slavery, migration and trafficking, modern slavery, and climate change, as well as provide advice on major risk areas.

The next phase of ASOS’ modern slavery plan will be a key component of the company’s upcoming human rights strategy, which will be unveiled by the end of next year as part of its Fashion with Integrity 2030 program.

Simon Platts, Responsible Sourcing Director, ASOS said that their new, three-year agreement with Anti-Slavery International builds on the solid basis of collaboration and ‘critical friendship’ that they’ve formed in their work together since 2017. This new arrangement takes things to the next level, with dedicated resources and the opportunity to collaborate to effect change at scale – and they’re so pleased to get started in 2022.

Jasmine O’Connor, CEO, Anti-Slavery International, said that their ‘critical friendship’ with ASOS means that they can continue their work together to strive for a fairer, more sustainable fashion industry that no longer relies on forced labor. They recognise that the fashion business has a significant influence on people and the environment, and they look forward to collaborating with ASOS to bring about much-needed industry-wide reform.
