Arvind Ltd sign MoU to set up an integrated apparel, textile park in AP

Arvind Ltd, the flagship company of the Lalbhai Group, India’s largest denim manufacturer and the world’s fourth largest producer and exporter of denim has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board to set up an integrated apparel and textile park in Chittoor.

Arvind plans to establish the facility in multiple phases across 100-125 acres with a capacity to produce 24 million pieces of shirts, jeans per annum. The proposed facility will see an initial investment of ₹250-300 crore and is expected to create 15,000 jobs in the first phase.

Arvind will also skill over 5,000 workers in garmenting in the proposed unit. ‪The integrated park would help Chittoor, a backward district, to rapidly scale up on value-added industrialisation.

‪The MoU was signed between Kulin Lalbhai, Executive Director, Arvind Ltd, and J Krishna Kishore, Chief Executive Officer, APEDB, in the presence of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

‬‪J Krishna Kishore, CEO, APEDB, said that textiles is a priority sector for Andhra Pradesh and the state has been wooing textile majors to establish their units as it aims to increase productivity and efficiency by attracting integrated textile units.

‪The Chief Minister has been giving special impetus to textiles and garments due to its potential to create employment, especially to women. ‪
