Ananas Anam, the manufacturer of the groundbreaking plant-based textile Piatex®, has launched its latest innovation: Piñayarn®.
In a world where petroleum-based textiles and resource-intensive virgin fibers are the norm, Piñayarn provides a 100% plant-based, recyclable, and biodegradable textile solution.
Innovative technologies are employed to collect the natural fibers from discarded leaves that would typically be burned after the pineapple harvest and combine them with other plant-based fibers to create yarns for the textile industry. Piñayarn is produced using a low-impact, naturally breathable, and biodegradable spinning method that utilizes no water and no toxic chemicals.
Piñayarn offers a second option to assist firms with lessening their environmental effect, completing the current product line of Ananas Anam.
Piñayarn is a flexible yarn that can be adapted to fit a variety of uses in the fashion, footwear, and interior design sectors. Global companies and innovators have already expressed interest in Piayarn, and intriguing collaborations are shortly to be announced.
Dr. Carmen Hijosa, Founder of Ananas Anam, said that the creation of yarn using the same recycled waste pineapple leaves was always a logical next step after the invention of Piñatex. This advancement was hastened by the global pandemic as we developed a yarn for biodegradable face masks. The yarn’s qualifications made it immediately clear that they would have a favorable influence on the fashion and footwear industries.
Ananas Anam makes sure that Piñayarn is good to people and the environment by operating with a social agenda and transparent supply chain.
