American woolen company to acquire historic Warren mills in Stafford Springs

The American Woolen Company has come forward is in the process of procuring wool mill in Stafford Springs which operated for 160 years before closing in December. The wool mill was one of the last of its kind in the country when it stopped production last year.

The company with the acquisition of the historic Warren Mills complex, it will reintroduce luxury worsted and woolen textile manufacturing to the United States.

On acquisition of Warren Mills, the American Woolen company plans to hire many of the mill’s former employees as it ramps up production.

The American Woolen Company will be provided with a $300,000 loan and a $100,000 grant to help cover the building acquisition costs by the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development.

By combining expert craftsmanship with state-of-the-art processes and equipment, American Woolen Company offers a limited collection of worsted and woolen apparel fabrics that adhere to the highest standards of quality. With production taking place in our own mill in northern Connecticut, these exceptional fabrics will now have a local source.
