Amann Group claims global first

Sewing thread manufacturer Amann Group has won gold cradle-to-cradle certification for a new product line, Lifecycle.

Cradle-to-cradle certification applies to products that are compostable or completely recyclable and generate zero waste.

For years, Amann said, it has been working to make its products more sustainable by using selected recycled and natural materials to make the threads.

Lifecycle threads guarantee “maximum recyclability”, the company said and do not consume any resources. The raw material for Lifecycle is obtained from recycled fishing nets and other textile waste. Amann uses no silicones to make and uses only compostable dyes for dyeing the threads.

The company’s quality director, Jörg Bühler, commented: “We are proud to be the first sewing thread manufacturer worldwide to offer our gold certified cradle-to-cradle sewing thread.”
