Active Apparel Group uses sustainable inks for printing

Active Apparel Group (AAG), known for manufacturing performance apparel for the leisure/lifestyle and active market, is taking steps to minimize environmental impacts and stay ahead of evolving global chemical regulations by adopting water-based OEKO-TEX 100 Class 1 Standard Printing Inks in its manufacturing processes.

AAG’s transition to OEKO-TEX approved, water-based inks not only benefits factory workers and local communities but also consumers and the environment downstream. The advantages of water-based inks are manifold.

CEO of AAG, Daniel Hawker, emphasized the importance of reducing toxic chemicals in the manufacturing process for the well-being of employees, local residents, and consumers. Moreover, this shift enables AAG to proactively comply with increasingly stringent environmental regulations, ensuring its customers’ profitability in a rapidly changing global marketplace.

OEKO-TEX certified water-based inks are utilized for digital printing and the majority of screen printing operations, offering a socially and environmentally superior alternative to commonly used Plastisol inks.

OEKO-TEX 100 Class 1 Standard Printing Inks adhere to stringent certification requirements, ensuring they are free from harmful substances and safe, even for sensitive skin. These specialized inks offer substantial environmental benefits by significantly reducing the risk of allergens and harmful chemicals leaching into the environment, compared to industry standards.
