In India, polyester yarn 30 knit yarn prices were up US cents 2 a kg in the fourth week of March in Ludhiana market while they rose US cents 6 a kg in Indore.

Spun polyester price in India rose INR6 on the week and 5% on the month due to recent hike in PSF prices. With INR having climbed against the US$, prices have even increased by 8.2% in US$ terms.

In Shengze, offers for 32s and 45s polyester yarn rolled over, but both were down US cents 2-3 a kg due to weak Yuan. In Qiangqing, offers for 32s were down US cents 3 on the week.

The government of India has imposed countervailing duty on readymade garment products to offset excise duty levied on their own products. As per traders, Indian has imposed additional countervailing duty on Nepali garments to safeguard the chances of imported goods being sold at cheaper rates as compared to the locally produced goods. Trading activity at cotton market on Wednesday witnessed further improvement with spinners doing some urgent buying of quality lint to meet requirements, dealers said. Besides, rise in oil prices resulted in higher polyester yarn prices by Rs 2 per kg, this is a positive factor which is causing rise in buying of cotton.

The official spot rate unchanged at Rs 5,200 while the Punjab prices were at Rs 2400 and Rs 3000. In the ready business, over 6,000 bales of cotton changed hands between Rs 5000 and Rs 5550, dealers said.

Asian acrylonitrile marker, the CFR Far East Asia was flat in the fourth week of March while Southeast Asia rolled over during the week. In China, sporadic offers for offshore cargoes were down, but buyers were mainly on the sideline.

Acrylonitrile prices in Asian markets remained unchanged in a thinly traded and holiday shortened week. Upstream propylene markets also held steady while market participants were at US conference. In China, prices inched down that week as some suppliers lowered their offers.
