The fibres to accessories trade show; YFA 2017 which was held from November 24‐27, 2017 in New Delhi, was Inaugurated by Mr. H.K.L MAGU, Vice Chairman, AEPC along with Mr. Lalit Thukral, Chairman EAC and NAEC and Mr. S.D. Chaudhary, Chairman, Kautilya Industries Pvt. Ltd. along with all the participants of YFA 2017. A majority of the 105 exhibitors participating at the show also expressed satisfaction with the numbers as well as the quality of the buyers. There was also a Chinese pavilion, in which 24 Chinese exhibitors showcased innovative yarns, fabrics and garment accessories.

National Textile Corporation Limited (NTC Ltd) signs Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Transparency International India (TII) for adopting Integrity Pact (IP). The signing ceremony was attended by Shri K V Chowdary, Central Vigilance Commissioner; Dr. S. K Panda, Secretary, Textiles, and other senior officials from Ministry of Textiles.

National Textile Corporation (NTC) which has seven mills in the State, is considering consolidation and modernization. The NTC also plans to expand its Entyce showroom network through franchisees. It had invested in modernisation between 2008 and 2010 and taken up capacity addition in two mills two years ago. This has helped the mills improve productivity, reduce costs and improve quality, said A. Arulsamy, Executive Director (south).

Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis in a meeting with National Textile Corporation (NTC) official a fortnight ago made it clear that the government would help NTC shut its mills in Mumbai and develop the land, provided it set up textile units in Amravati. The condition is to set up the mills there, operationalize them and only then would the government allow NTC to commercially exploit its land in Mumbai.

The decision likely to be opposed by political satraps in Satara, Sangli, Solapur and Ichalkaranji who have interests in the textile industry in these regions.

Sick textile mills relocation to Amravati likely to push Vidarbha’s cotton economy

The four sick textile units - three from Mumbai and one from Solapur are to be relocated to Nandgaonpeth textile zone in Amravati. The Nandgaonpeth textile zone has been allocated 40 hectares land and is located 17km from Amravati on National Highway 6. This move is likely to give the much-needed push to Vidarbha's cotton economy.

The four units which are to be relocated are Mumbai's Indu Mill, Poddar Mill and Tata Textiles and Barshi Textile Mills of Solapur.

The government has decided not to sell the loss making National Textile Corporation (NTC) but instead plans to nurture the ailing state-owned textiles firm back to health by disposing of its land worth Rs 1,750 crore in Uttar Pradesh. Textile Minister Santosh Gangwar at the conference said that they are committed to not sell National Textile Corporation.

NTC has 11 places in UP and British India Corporation Ltd (BICL) has 35. The matter has been pending since last 15 years and the government has already wasted Rs 500 crore.

Rajnagar mill once again facing closure

The Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) has been directed on Friday by the Gujarat high court to close down National Textile Corporation's Rajnagar Textile Mill near Idgah Chawky with immediate effect. The court said that the unit should not be permitted to restart production until it adheres to noise pollution norms.
