The acquisition is SKAPS Industries first in North America. Matrix Composites Inc. was started January 1996 in Henderson, Ky., in a new building to produce woven fiberglass fabrics and under the ownership of Don Hudson (1996) Matrix expanded with a second factory in Seguin, Texas (2002), which took Matrix to producing woven and non-woven fabrics in two different states.

Matrix has built a diversified customer based, with lean production practices and the ability to provide speed to market services for many products lines.

Filatex plans to increase its production capacity by nearly 90,000 tonnes to 237,000 tonnes for FY 2018-19. A similar capacity expansion was planned by other polyester manufacturers as well. Polyester prices have moved in a narrow range over the last few months following crude oil prices. Data compiled by the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) showed $1.6 billion worth of man-made filaments and man-made staple fibre products imported into India during the financial year 2017-18.

Foundation for USTER® Statistics - The USTER® GGP sparked a new interest in evenness testing by spinners, and led to requests for further quality management tools. The response was the publication in 1957 of USTER® STANDARDS, the precursor of USTER® STATISTICS. This listed unevenness data as U% and CV figures for carded and combed yarns, from GGP® test results collated worldwide. Mr. Jaipuria expressed that garment and carpet industry was under immense pressure after implementation of GST. After GST, substantial drop in import duty was observed which has encouraged cheaper imports. It is also worth noting that total imports of textiles and garments increased in 2017-18 (USD 7 billion) by 16% in comparison to 2016-17 (USD 6 billion).
