Business council to promote trade between Uzbekistan and Germany being planned

Uzbekistan and Germany are planning to set business council that will promote extension of trade, economic, investment and financial cooperation between both countries, in this connection Berlin to host the founding meeting late in February.

The Council will present Uzbekistan’s investment potential in German, organize presentations and forums, and protect the interests of Uzbek and German companies operating in both countries.

The Pakistan textile industry finally gets its new Textile Policy 2014-19 as the Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet (ECC) gives approval. Announcing the new textile, the Textile Minister, Abbas Khan on Monday said that an amount of Rs 64.15 billion was proposed for next five years against the allocation of Rs 188 billion for the last textile policy 2009-14. This is help boost country’s exports of textile and clothing sector to $26 billion by 2019 from $13 billion.

The 13th edition of the Knit-Tech, a knitting technology trade fair organised by Hi-tech International Trade Fair and approved by the India Trade Promotion Organisation concluded yesterday on February 9.

More than 200 companies from India and abroad were exhibiting state-of-the-art machinery related to the knitwear production which include circular knitting machines, dyeing and finishing machines, knit printing appliances, computerised flat knitting machines, yarn conditioning machines, sewing machines and fabric dyeing machines, among others.

Both major and minor weavers of Kerala state are forced to improvise products to attract customers as they face stiff competition from other states. This was observed at the ongoing National Handloom Expo 2015 which began at Marine Ground in Kozhikode on Saturday.

Earlier, weavers from the State had nothing much to offer than the traditional mundu, set mundu, towels, bed sheets, and shirting materials. Now, they have come up with innovative products and designs to capture the interest of the customers.

US cotton acreage to drop 15 pct this year over weak market price

The National Cotton Council (NCC) expects cotton farming in the world's biggest exporter to fall to 9.4 million acres in 2015. That would be the smallest cotton acreage since 2009, according to U.S. government data.

U.S. cotton farmers are expected to reduce acreage by nearly 15 percent this year as weak market prices force them to switch to other crops.

The NCC survey, widely watched as one of the earliest indicators of the next season's production, is based on a questionnaire mailed in mid-December to producers across the 17-state cotton belt.

India to see drop in cotton cultivation by 15% over low price and lower demand

India’s cotton cultivation is estimated to drop by 20 percent in 2015-16 if low price and lower demand continue to remain will discourage farmers to reduce cotton cultivation, after having witnessed a year of record production. In 2014-15, cotton area under cultivation was around 13 mn hectares about 1.5 mn hectares higher than the previous year.

While global demand for cotton and cotton yarn dropped in recent months, cotton prices also dipped owing to lack of good quality cotton in the market.

The Union ministry of textiles to provide powerloom weavers yarn at concessional rate has formed two special purpose vehicles (SPVs) namely Ved Road Art Silk Small Scale Cooperative Federation Limited and Pandesara Weavers Cooperative Society Limited for setting up India’s first yarn bank under the Integrated Scheme for Powerloom Sector Development ( ISPSD).
