After consolidated net profit increased 42.4% to Rs 24.51 crore on 7.4% fall in total income to Rs 466.93 crore in Q3 December 2014 over Q3 December 2013. The result was announced after market hours on 11 February 2015.

SRF Ltd a multi-business entity with headquarters in Gurgaon, India plans to enhance its research & development capabilities of its chemical division and upgradation of technical textile plant with an investment to the tune of about Rs 91 crores. This is company’s second major investment announced in less than a year. In August 2014, the Board of Directors of SRF had approved a capex proposal for setting up of a new specialty chemicals plant at its chemical complex at Dahej in Gujarat with a total investment of Rs 113 crore.

The Bangladeshi readymade garment sector has incurred huge vandalism caused by the non-stop political unrest beginning from January 6. In the last 35 days the RMG sector has incurred a loss of Tk21,711 crore due to cancellation of orders, extra-burden of air freights and delays in shipments.

According to the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) estimate, the apparel sector faced the order cancellations worth Tk10,000 crore while it had to spend additional money of over Tk918 crore for air shipments.

Cotton price in Pakistan market maintained upward journey on Wednesday, influenced with the recent international trend. Brokers said that deals were made at higher rates by up to Rs150 to Rs200 per maund as the world cotton markets moved higher influencing the domestic trading. Buyers rushed to replenish their stocks at higher level, cotton prices rose above the psychological barrier of Rs5,000 per maund because of rise in the dollar’s value against the rupee which has improved export parity of textile goods.

Zambian handloom weaver received training at the Indian Institute of Handloom Technology (IIHT) in Salem on textile design, block printing, use of sophisticated handlooms and quality management. During the training period of two month they also visited several handloom cluster sites in Tamil Nadu.
