As spinners at cotton market kept themselves from away, dull trading activity was witness on Thursday. Deals of as many as 2,700 maunds of phutti (seed cotton) took place in Umer Kot at Rs3,625, Kunri at Rs3,575, Degree at Rs3,550, Mirpur Khas at Rs3,525 and Badin at Rs3,600.

Major deals that changed hands on the ready counter were: 400 bales from Rahim Yar Khan at Rs7,000, 200 bales from Vehari at Rs6,875 and 200 bales from Mirpur Khas at Rs7,000 (new crop).

As Vietnamese made fabrics are largely still below the standards of international markets, it’s textile and garment sector is heavily dependent on imported fabrics, mostly originated from Asian countries, with China accounting for 52 percent of the imports.

In the first four months of 2017, Vietnam imported 3.3 million USD worth of fabrics , up 6.75 percent from the same period last year, this was revealed by the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

In China, offers for 32s polyester yarn in Shengze were up US cent 1 a kg in the fourth week of May. In Zhejiang, 32s weaving yarn inched up US cents 3 a kg on the week.

Spun polyester yarn markets in China followed the rise in PSF values, although slightly. Transaction was tolerable and some specs saw healthy transaction amid moderate sentiment. Following huge purchases in early in the week, the overall polyester market went into weak adjustment driven by feedstock market.

PTA price tumbles on weak raw material cost

Asian PTA prices gave back US$16 a ton CFR China and CFR Southeast Asia in the fourth week of June. In China, offers for bonded goods fell by US$5 a ton on the week. Yisheng Petrochemical cut it’s selling price US$5 a ton while Hengli Petrochemical’s kept it selling price flat during the week.

Purified terephthalic acid prices sobered in Asian markets as crude oil tumbled and paraxylene spot values declined. In China, September PTA futures tumbled weekend on the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange.

ASF price sobers in China, stable in India

In China, medium-length fiber and cotton-type staple ASF prices sobered US cent 0.50 a kg in the fourth week of May.

Acrylic staple fibre prices generally rolled over or lowered a bit that week. In China, ASF producers maintained stable numbers for settlement prices, but given poor sales amid faltering demand, inventory piled up. Thus, producers mostly reduced run rates for the moment.

Offers for cotton‐type, medium‐length staple fiber, tow and top were pegged a bit lower than last week. Due to still poor order intakes, demand from spinners remained muted amid high inventory.

Acrylonitrile price slips in Asia, Europe

Asian acrylonitrile prices were down US$25 a ton CFR South East in the fourth week of May. In China, offers for offshore cargoes rolled over while Indian ACN was stable during the week.

Acrylonitrile prices in Asian markets showed mixed trends amid sluggish demand with FEA rolling over and SEA prices declining. Demand from ASF markets continued to remain weak with suppliers running at 82%, with insipid demand. ABS held stable amid lukewarm trades while acrylamide offers were cut and suppliers lowering run rate to 70%.
