Nylon yarn price falls amid weak input cost

In China, FDY70D/24F SD prices were down US cents 5 a kg in the second week of March, while FDY40D were stable on the week. DTY 70D/24F prices fell US cents 8 a kg and 30D/10F rolled over during the week.

Monofilament 30D prices remained unchanged while nylon staple fiber 1.5D prices were down US cents 9 a kg on the week.

Nylon filament yarn markets remained flat to weak on the back of easing cost of nylon chips and breakeven operation with run rate at 75%. Downstream converters kept stable operation and followed up cautiously. Warp-knitting and weaving sectors operated at 70-90% while, circular-knitting mills and lacing mills ran at 40-70% capacities.

Yarn makers could make meager margins owing to flat to down feedstock and auxiliary materials costs. Demand from tyre market was still weak and cautious.
