Caprolactum prices rise on rebounding demand in China

In China, liquid good offers rose to US$1,460-1,505 a ton in the third week of February while solid goods offer increased to US$1,505-1,535 a ton.

Asian markers, the SE and FE markers gained US$20 a ton.

Both, Sinopec and DSM Nanjing announced their February contract nomination at US$1,535 a ton for liquid goods. Sporadic offers for high-end February contract were at US$1,320 a ton CFR China.

Caprolactum prices inched up that week on slight rebound in demand and higher raw materials. Run rates at polymerization units were stable at around 70% with inventory level down to 5 days’ worth. Yarn makers were running at 55% holding inventory up to 30 days’ worth.

In Europe, some caprolactum producers were targeting a rollover for February in an attempt to boost margins and enhance the viability of their business.

Several players are also expecting a reduction from January to be the outcome of February contract price negotiations.
