ASF price gains in China

In China, medium-length fiber and cotton-type staple ASF prices surged US cents 16 a kg in the third week of February. Acrylic staple fibre markets on China saw another round of price hikes while overall industrial run rate was stable at a high level, as a result of healthy sales and generally low inventories.

Seeing favorable movement recently and firm raw material cost, prices may even move higher later. However, in a longer? term, market participants are generally worried about the off season in future.

In India, market supply was bit tight on the back of low inventory caused by the demonetization police. However, run rate was coming back to normal.

In Pakistan, firm acrylic yarn prices supported ASF prices to roll over that week.
