What is the chemical composition of polyester?

As the name suggests polyester belongs to the ester functional group along with two other chemical groups which are the carbonyl group and methylene group. These groups are bonded by Van der Waals forces predominantly and very weak hydrogen bonds. Polyester can be termed as a crystalline fiber with 65-85% crystalline region and 35-15% amorphous region.
