China is forced to launch a new cotton subsidy policy this year, to subsidize low-income groups and farmers through price fluctuations. The excessive amount of imported has reached 4 million tonnes along with the stockpiles which China started over the past three years to stabilize prices, after cotton prices fluctuated spectacularly between 2010 and 2011. The China's current cotton reserve policy has upset domestic cotton prices.

Cotton market pulled yarn manufacturers attention with the decline in cotton rates to make some buying, helping improve the situation of cotton trading turnover in Pakistan. It was low trade activities which had continued for the last many weeks impelled the ginners to reduce the price. The National Centres for Textile Design, in association with the Weavers Service Centres throughout the country, has worked on a collection of hand-woven saris, dress material and stoles that use only natural dyes. Its brand Tantavi Heritage uses natural fibres such as cotton, silk (mulberry, muga, tussar eri, etc), wool and pashmina.

In a bid to encourage natural dyes and to create public awareness, the centre is holding the Tantavi Heritage exhibition to showcase saris, stoles and more created using handloom fabrics and natural dyes.
