A delegation of Italian businessmen including President Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers (ACMIT) to visit Pakistan from 4 to 7 December. The Karl Mayer subsidiary recently opened its showroom equipped with high-tech machines at its Chemnitz site and aims to have a second facility ready by the end of the year in Naila in Bavari. The customers can try out various weft-insertion warp knitting machines and a biaxial warp knitting machine. The Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal to take up discussion with state governments on providing a level-playing field to the units in powerloom sector. If the states agree, the decision may be soon be implemented. As a result weaving units in the powerloom sector may get electricity at competitive prices, said a senior official who was present in the meeting.

The textile machinery manufacturing section is one of the important segments of the industry in India. With the government initiatives like 'Make in India' and incentives for manufacturing sector, the domestic textile machinery industry is likely to touch Rs 32,000-35,000 crore in the next five years from the present Rs 22,000 crore, according to India International Textile Machinery Exhibitions Society Chairman Sanjiv Lathia.

Cotton trading at Pakistan cotton market remained firm as buyers made deals for better grade of lint on slightly higher price. The leading buyers also strengthen their long position by making deals for better grade lint, as per traders.

Around 1,000 bales changed hands while fine quality cotton fetched better price around Rs 6,600 per maund.

The KCA spot rates remained strong at Rs 6,300 per maund. But some ready market deals changed hands below KCA's prevailing spot rates during the trading session.

Pakistan witnessed 2.62 percent growth in exports of readymade garments about 9,657 thousand dozen worth US$ 698.403 million during first four months (July-October) of current financial year as compared to exports of 9,934 thousand dozen valuing US$ 680.567 million in the corresponding period of last financial year.

Relaince Industries Ltd. CEO (textiles business) Pradeep Bhandari announced that the US Patent & Trademark Office has granted patent to its textile brand ‘Only Vimal’. The patent is for its DEO2 process technology that helps fight perspiration odour.

He said that the US patent award is a testimony to their thrust on the technological innovation. Their textile manufacturing processes are amongst the best technologically and innovative process available globally.

The Ivory Coast is largely market-based and depends heavily on the agricultural sector. In a bid to increase production in the wake of a unsatisfactory cotton harvest, the Ivory Coast government increased mandated cotton price for farmers by six percent for 2016-17 seasons hoping that this increase will permit an expansion in the number of farmers and bump up production, a government spokesman said.

Ivory Coast, before a 2002-2003 civil war which split the country in two and halved production was one of the region's major cotton exporters, with an annual output of about 400,000 tonnes.

Gujarat a major hub for textile sector having about two lakh registered MSME units of which several form ancillary units for the textile industry such as for garments or even textile machinery units has been hit hard since the demonetization of Rs500 and Rs1000 notes announcement by the Centre, as most transactions especially at the retail level are done in cash.

Asian MEG prices declined US$17 a ton while CFR China and South East Asia in the third week of November. Mono ethylene glycol prices declined after a surge last week, as traders were heard to be taking profits early in the week, with both Yuan-denominated swaps and US$-denominated spot cargoes traded sharply lower.

On 17th November 2016, MEG futures saw an upper limit up at close, a trend similar to that in the previous week, stimulated by fundamental sentiment that strengthened expectation of an increase in interest rates in the US.
