The International Finance Corporation (IFC) with an aim to achieve sustainable textile production, plans to launch Partnership for Cleaner Textile (PaCT), the second phase of its advisory service in Dhaka.

During the second phase, the World Bank arm targets to annually save 32 million cubic metres of water and 3.8 million megawatt hours (MWh) of electricity in 250 weaving, spinning, wet dyeing and finishing factories.

The pan- India handloom camps 'Hastkala Sahyog Shivirs' to be organized by the textile ministry in 421 handloom-handicrafts clusters across the country which will benefit over 1.2 lakh weavers and artisans.

The initiative is dedicated to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Garib Kalyan Varsh to mark the birth centenary year of the Hindutva icon. The pan-India handloom camps will be organised during October 7-17, 2017.

Union textile minister, Smriti Irani said that through Hastkala Sahyog Shvirs more than 1.20 lakh weavers and artisans will benefit.

During the trading session at cotton market, demand for better grades of lint remained on higher side and buyers made deals on premium price to strengthen their long positions while deals in second grade of lint remained dominant for blending purposes.

Secondary buyers made deals for all grades of lint while dealings in second grade of lint changed hands at around Rs 6,500 per maund to Rs 6,525 per maund.
