The conference was held at the Uzbek Research Institute of Sericulture titled 'Actual problems of growing high-quality and competitive cocoon in the country by the representatives of Uzbek sericulture industry on 24 October take measures to increase mulberry cultivars, silkworm breeds, fully meet the needs of farms in silkworm seeds and mulberry seedlings.

Members of the leadership of the research institute, Uzbek Scientific Production Center for Agriculture, the Uzbekipaksanoat (Uzbek Silk Industry) Association spoke at the conference.

Assam and the North Eastern region produces all four commercially exploited varieties of silk – mulberry, muga, eri and tasar which contributes about 21 percent of the total silk production in the country. Cambodia likely to see a slower percentage of growth, at around 5 percent this year compared with 7 percent in 2016, Ken Loo, secretary-general of the Garment Manufacturers Association in Cambodia said at the annual Cambodia Textile Summit.

According to data from the Customs Department, Cambodia exported $7.3 billion worth of apparel and footwear products in 2016. The sector accounts for more than 70 percent of the country’s total exports with the vast majority of its products destined for the EU, US and Canada.

In China, offers for 32s polyester yarn declined in the week ended 13th October 2017. Spun polyester yarn offers were down that week while trading was moderate. Weak polyester staple fibre cost pushed down polyester spun yarn prices during the week. Prices of some individual specs also softened amid moderate trading.

In India, spun polyester offers fell that week after remaining stable in the previous week. Prices have lost INR4 per kg in the last four weeks.

In Pakistan, polyester yarn prices stayed firm during the week.

In China, offers for bonded goods were down US$10 a ton in the second week of October. Yisheng Petrochemical lowered its self-lifting price by US$10 from last week while Hengli Petrochemical kept unchanged on the week. Purified terephthalic acid prices in Asia were stable to weak after the National Day holiday week in China as market fundamentals were largely unchanged supported by tight supply.
