Textiles technical institute set up provide training for workers

Southern India Mills’ Association (SIMA) and PSG Institutions have set up textile technical training institute where they have started offering training courses for fitters. The training institute would be offering short, medium and long-term courses.

Initially, it was offering four days’ training for fitters and it covered all machinery, accessories and equipment.

As the textile industry was facing acute shortage of manpower for mechanical, electrical and electronic maintenance.

SIMA chairman T. Rajkumar has said that a pilot mill was established for the purpose and Lakshmi Machine Works had donated the entire range of machinery.

He has appealed to the textile mills in the State to make use of the facility to provide training to their workers.

Several textile machinery, spares and accessories manufacturers and service providers have come forward to share their technical expertise with the participants.
