RadiciGroup joins Bocconi SDA’s circular initiative

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2021-03-30 11:56:37 – Italy

RadiciGroup, a pioneer in the fibers industry, is taking part in Monitor for Circular Fashion, a new Italian project co-founded by the SDA Bocconi School of Management and Enel X with the aim of forming an Italian fashion community through collaboration among the supply chain's most dedicated to sustainable agendas.

Intesa (Gruppo IBM), Candiani Denim, Dedagroup Stealth, Manteco, Vitale Barberis Canonico, Save the Duck, Vibram, Vivienne Westwood, and YKK are also supporting the project so far.

The initiative aims to evaluate the state of circular economy maturity in the Italian fashion industry, identify an ambitious strategy for incorporating circularity in fashion, and create new concrete and observable circular economy solutions through the exchange of best practices, all with the goal of making the strategic fashion sector more sustainable.

The sales and marketing director for RadiciGroup Advanced Textile Solutions, Marco De Silvestri said that the evolution of fashion with the aim of promoting sustainability is a critical component of the economy's rebirth. They have always tried to share their content expertise and offer solutions that are both higher performing and environmentally friendly as upstream players in the supply chain.

He added that they've embraced a circular economy business model, seeking to produce long-lasting, high-quality goods by investing in innovation, using low-impact and recyclable raw materials, selecting sustainable sources, minimizing waste, perfecting processes, and introducing strict environmental impact measurement systems. However, we are convinced that the circular economy cannot be implemented by individuals operating alone, which is why we have enthusiastically entered this community.

In September 2021, a report will be released that will expose the industry's macro trends, measuring how Italian fashion companies apply circular economy concepts across the value chain, identify best practices and gaps, and eventually suggest an ambitious strategy for incorporating circularity into one of Italy's largest export industries.
