Quiksilver unveils its eco-friendly Made Better collection

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2021-04-08 11:39:40 – USA

California-based boardsport apparel company Quiksilver has announced a new sustainable fleece range made from recycled materials, as part of its ‘Made Better' environmental commitments.

The new fleece collection was made using new eco-friendly manufacturing methods and recycled plastic bottles. The collection, which is available on the Quiksilver e-commerce platform, includes boardshorts made from recycled plastic bottles, as well as summer basics and fleeces made from recycled fabrics.

The polar fleece is a key piece of the range, according to Quiksilver, and it's made entirely of plastic bottles and recycled polyester. Bright block colors and eye-catching tropical prints from Quiksilver's archive are available on the fleece.

Organic cotton fleeces in green, blue, white, navy, grey, white, and ochre will also be launched at the same time, with natural mineral dyes for color.

The Boardriders-owned company said in a statement about its dedication to sustainable design- Quiksilver has concentrated on using recycled plastic bottles since the breakthrough of this fabric technology and has reused almost 250 million bottles that would otherwise have gone into landfill.

This new collection exemplifies the brand's continuing commitment to finding more sustainable and environmentally friendly production methods that support all. It also demonstrates Quiksilver's ongoing dedication to the mountains and the sea, the brand's outdoor playground.

Quiksilver revealed last year that all of its boardshorts are now made entirely of recycled materials. The collection includes items ranging in price from $25 for an organic tank top to $70 for a hoodie.

Quiksilver also unveiled a new sustainability portal in conjunction with the Made Better collection, which is available on the company's website since March 10. The hub highlights the brand's eco-friendly policies and credentials, as well as its long-term goals. A rolling counter of the number of plastic bottles recycled by Quiksilver, which currently stands at about 254.3 million, will also be featured in the space.

Quiksilver's introduction of Made Better and the sustainability hub are part of a larger initiative to reduce the company's environmental effects. By using recycled polyester in the bulk of its products, the organization has avoided nearly 254.3 million tonnes of CO2 pollution in addition to recycling plastic bottles.
