Lenzing unveils Tree Climate fabric collection

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2022-04-29 03:04:13 – Austria

At Performance Days in Munich, Lenzing, a major global producer of wood-based specialty fibers, unveiled the Tree Climate fabric collection by Tencel, curated by outdoor fabric pioneers David Parkes and Marco Weichert. Tencel branded lyocell fibers are featured in the new Tree Climate outdoor fabric collection, which offers a wide range of options and versatility.

It features a wide selection of base, mid, and upper layer fabrics, each with its own set of intrinsic performance characteristics, as well as outdoor waddings composed of wood-based Tencel Lyocell fibers. For diverse weather situations, the three-fold collection allows for the production of synthetic-free and enhanced synthetic content layering solutions.

According to the Higg Materials Sustainability Index, an industry-wide instrument that assesses and reports the environmental impact of materials used in garments, the fibers have one of the lowest environmental impacts of all materials. The series highlights the adaptability of Tencel Lyocell fibers in utilitarian outdoor applications, in addition to the obvious environmental benefits. The fabric is wind and water-resistant, with excellent breathability and temperature regulation, making it suitable for outdoor sports enthusiasts all year. The fibers are mild on the skin and combine nicely with natural fibers like wool and hemp, according to the manufacturer.

Andreas Gürtler, senior manager of Global Business Development Active Sportswear at Lenzing, said that they’re thrilled to unveil their new Tree Climate fabric range and display it at Performance Days, the industry-leading functional fabric fair in Munich. With the support of famous curators David and Marco, they’re incredibly happy with what they have accomplished. The biodegradable fibers provide high-performance characteristics and an extremely soft feel. This fabric collection, when combined with carbon-zero fibers, is ready to usher in a new era of positive change for outdoor gear and the environment.

Outdoor enthusiasts are concerned about the environment. When it comes to performance clothes, people are often concerned about the origin of the product and its impact on the environment at the conclusion of its life cycle. Lenzing is able to ensure the performance of fabric used in outdoor wear while also ensuring a good environmental impact through collaboration and innovation with inspirational specialists David Parkes and Marco Weichert.

Marco Weichert, founder of Performance Days and CEO of Weichert Agencies, said that in the outdoor sector, sustainability has become a must-have. Climate-neutral fibers that are nature-based and may claim a function from nature are desperately needed in the business. With its Tencel Tree Climate series, Lenzing offers some of the best fibers for the active market. It provides biodegradable fibers derived from nature with excellent functional characteristics such as climate control and moisture management. He is grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this project and is convinced that it will succeed.

David Parkes, founder, and CEO of Concept III, said that for decades, consumers have recognized that performance gear identifies itself via innovative and functional materials. It is a pioneer in textile development and has taken on a leadership role in textile sustainability and environmental awareness, with accountability. The sustainability of this generation of Tencel fibers, as well as its appealing looks and excellent thermal and comfort properties, have inspired him.
