Khadi Utsav at Bhopal Haat allures large number of city folks

Madhya Pradesh Khadi and Gram Udyog Board to promote handloom and handicraft industry organized Khadi Utsav at Bhopal Haat, MP Nagar. This special Khadi market with a large variety of Khadi handloom products is luring large number of city folks. The khadi board is offering 20 percent plus 10 percent discount to khadi lovers.

The exhibition has large variety of silk and cotton sarees like kosa, mulberry silk, maheshwari, bagh print, dabu print, battick print, kantha sarees, madhubani sarees, muslin khadi, matka and many more.

The price range of silk sarees varies from Rs 4,500 to Rs 5,900, while cotton sarees are priced Rs 2,000 onwards. Khadi stoles with block prints and khadi jackets are in great demand along with kalamkari kurtas and running fabric. Khadi silk stoles are priced at Rs 1,050 and cotton stoles are priced at Rs 450.

Umesh Kokaje, member of MP Khadi and Gram Udyog Board said that Khadi is trying to innovate. They are trying to experiment with the designs, following which Khadi has collaborated with designers. They want Khadi to come in sync with the contemporary trend. Khadi is going from obsolete to contemporary. They at Khadi board are trying to focus on the finishing and improving designs.

Bagh print sarees which are available in different colours and designs are available for Rs 4,500 onwards, with and without zari border. Kurtas with embroidered neck designs are new in the exhibition. Khadi jackets are in demand with price ranging between Rs 700 to Rs 1,050. Suit with dupatta and salwar prices range between Rs 700 to Rs 1,000 which are available in various designs and colours.

T-shirts with warli art, landscape designs and tribal art are also available in soft cotton material. The prices range between Rs 250 to Rs 600. Bags made from date palm leaves are a unique feature of the exhibition. They are available in various sizes and colours. The bags are priced at Rs 350 onwards, depending on the size. Sarees with hand paintings are also available priced Rs 4,000 onwards. Kalamkari kurtas and running fabrics is a rage amongst handloom lovers in the city.

The Government has decided to leave no stone unturned to promote handloom and handicraft industry to bring artisans on the centre of the stage.
