Rieter and Haelixa, offering a DNA traceability solution for identifying and tracking fibers across the whole supply chain, have teamed up to offer an innovative concept of marking fibers during yarn manufacturing. The system responds to the growing demand for accurate traceability data. It gives forensic evidence of textile products' origins, which is becoming more relevant as the demand for organic or recycled raw materials grows.
For comprehensive textile supply chain transparency from source to retail, Haelixa offers a traceability solution based on breakthrough and patented DNA technology. The firm creates a one-of-a-kind marker that may be placed directly on the fiber and used to identify a brand, a supplier, a production lot, or a producer.
The marker is safe for humans and the environment, Oeko Tex 100 compliant, and Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified, while still being powerful enough to endure industrial processing. The garment or other intermediary product can be used to complete the test to verify the origin or validity of the material.
Combining Rieter's expertise in short-staple fiber processing with Haelixa's technology will result in more transparent and resilient supply chains, as well as a solution that integrates smoothly into existing equipment. Haelixa and Rieter have already completed joint in-house testing and validation, resulting in the release of a liquid form of the marker for use in Rieter spinning systems.
Rico Randegger, Head Rieter Business Group After Sales, said that at Rieter, they're seeing a growing desire from their clients for more supply chain transparency. Rieter's solution provides customers with an automated traceability function as part of their systems, allowing them to add value to their products and increase their success. Rieter and Haelixa will develop the application concept to meet the needs of spinners.
Michela Puddu, CEO and Co-founder of Haelixa, said that customers of Rieter will benefit from an integrated and ready-to-use traceability solution as a result of the agreement. Traceability adds value because it establishes confidence and reliability by providing accurate product data. They’re excited about the synergies and added value that the Haelixa technology creates with Rieter's product portfolio.
