Polyester/viscose blended yarn export volume dropped in June 2010 while value earning posted positive growth. During the month, 2.21 million kgs of PV spun yarn was exported worth US$6.96 million. In comparison with the same month of previous year, the volume was down 13% while value increased 7%, implying that unit price realization grew by 23% to average US$3.15 a kg.
Thus, export aggregated 6 million kgs worth US$18 million (Rs.82 crore) in the first three months of 2010-11. In comparison to the corresponding period of 2009-10, volumes were down 3%, while earning increased 20% derived from a 24% jump in unit price realization.
In June 2010, polyester/viscose blended yarn was exported to 28 destinations as against 32 last year. Of these, 11 formed the Elite group accounting for over 90% of all PV yarn exported from India during the month. Iran was the single largest importer of Indian PV yarn with volume at 700,000 kgs valued at US$2.06 million. Last year, it had imported 163,000 kgs worth US$0.44 million. Turkey followed with volumes of 338,000 kgs valued at US$1.14 million.
