Benzene prices rose in Asia amid higher October US benzene and crude oil prices. Prices were also supported by the tight supply in China due to scheduled maintenance and low operating rates at plants. In Europe, spot prices were up on the week while US spot benzene fell as the market remained thinly traded.
Caprolactum markets in Asia went range bound with moderate demand. Feedstock market rebounded a bit, with moderate demand given cost support to the caprolactum markets. Nylon chip markets leveled off mainly in Asian as raw material market rebounded amid stable downstream demand. The slight recovery saw demand picking up and prices stabilised.
Nylon filament yarn markets in Asia were steady as nylon chip market remained relatively stable with marginal fluctuations. Downstream demand was relatively stable. As for POY market, prices for stable and major suppliers indicated that the demand remained stable and prices were flat. In FDY market inventory at suppliers fell slightly as buyers stocked up when prices were at a low level.
