Japan`s JX Nippon to boost crude refining by 12% in May

Japan's JX Nippon Oil and Energy's Corp senior vice president, Tsutomu Sugimori, announced that in May, the refiner would increase its crude oil refining capacity by 12 percent from a year earlier to 5.07 million kilolitres (kl), reported Reuters.
Sugimori added that the amount would be used for local consumption.
He also said that crude refining for local consumption during the current month is estimated to have jumped by 24 percent from the same period in 2011, reaching 5.79 million kl.
Moreover, at the current time, the company runs 8 refineries in the country with total capacity of 1.61 million bpd.
It is worth noting that from May 15 to June 13, JX Nippon will carry out scheduled maintenance on its 136,000 barrels per day (bpd) Oita refinery.
