India - Textile cluster project completed in Ludhiana

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry Government of India has under infrastructure upgradation scheme being administered by the department of policy and promotion completed the project for textile cluster at Ludhiana.
Disclosing this, Ludhiana MP and National Spokesperson of the Congress Manish Tewari said the project was sanctioned in October, 2004 with the total project cost of Rs. 17.19 crores. He said the project is fully operational. The hazardous waste management facility created under the project is being used by entire textile industry Punjab, he said.Ludhiana MP Manish Tewari
Quoting the Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Anand Sharma, Tewari said two projects for export infrastructure approved during 2008-09 by Government of Punjab are also under implementation in Ludhiana.
Giving details, he added these include development of Export Infrastructure for enhancing competitiveness and manufacturing quality of Hands Tools industry at the cost of Rs. 790 lakhs and development of Export Infrastructure for enhancing project quality and competitiveness to boost exports in light engineering industry including bicycle, sewing machine and parts manufacturing industry at the cost of Rs. 480 lakhs.
