An annual HCM City textile fair that opened yesterday is a great opportunity for Vietnamese garment and textile firms to compare notes with leading businesses from around the world, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Ho Thi Kim Thoa has said.
Speaking at the opening of the 22nd Viet Nam Sai Gon Textile and Garment Industry Expo 2012 – Fabric and Garment Accessories (Sai Gon Tex 2012), she said it would be a perfect forum to establish new business contacts and trading links.
Vietnamese garment and textile enterprises would have opportunities to exchange experiences with leading businesses around the world.
Also, domestic garment and textile firms can update technologies and diversify raw material sources to increase their indigenisation rate, she said.
Bui Thi Thuc Anh, director of the VCCI Exhibition Services Co., said there would be a programme titled Key Buyer Matching to help domestic and foreign businesses find partners.
During Sai Gon Tex 2012, several seminars, including global garment and textile – from supplying markets to consuming markets or solutions for Vietnamese garment and textile enterprises to increase value – will be held to provide markets, development trends and business solutions for various garment and textile enterprises.
The fair will see 300 businesses from 18 countries and territories showcase a wide range of garment industry equipment and accessories, like enzymes, softening substances, paper drums and machinery, drying devices, denim cloth, mesh cloth, twist knives, and others.
It is organised by Vinatex, the VCCI Exhibition Services Co, and Hong Kong Exhibition JSC in partnership with official agencies and business groupings.
The exhibition, being held at the Tan Binh ExhibitionandConvention Centre, will go on until Saturday.
Hoang Viet Dung, deputy general director of Vinatex, said a similar expo would be held in Ha Noi in November to attract more foreign investors, suppliers and buyers to Viet Nam.
Viet Nam's textile and garment exports rose 41 per cent last year to US$15.8 billion, to make the country the second largest exporter after the US.
