Saudi Arabia
Summary:
Saudi Aramco collaborated with King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, and King Saud University, on separate projects to evaluate the performance and durability of FRP rebar and FRP sheets under the typical local environmental conditions specifically considering exposure to alkaline solutions (i.e., seawater and subkha), acidic solutions, thermal variation, the outdoors, and fire, a few years back.

The results of these studies confirmed the excellent potential for the use of these materials on new construction and for the strengthening or repair of existing structures.

The conclusion of Phase 1 of the DuPont, Fibrtec project validates the advancements that can be made in the carbon fiber composites production field

Knoxville
Summary:
This project offers a new CFRP manufacturing process when compared to the two other typically deployed processes which have significant drawbacks that limit their mainstream, high-volume use in the automotive and aerospace industries. One mainstream current technique weaves dry carbon fiber tows into a fabric, layers the fabrics with thermoplastic resin films, and later heats and compresses them into a well-consolidated composite. While this method is ultimately effective in creating a carbon fiber fabric, the process has several drawbacks.

Like China, India has all required resources technology, skilled labourers, raw materials. It lacks is the political will to rectify policy anomalies. Twisted labour laws do not favour the creation of massive textile manufacturing units that could compete with the Chinese facilities in the economy of scale.

Australian company comes up with an extensive new way to produce rayon fibers

News Tags: biomass, cellulose, cotton or wool, fibers, Nanollose, rayon, rayon fibers, wood pulp or plant fibers, wood- or plant-derived cellulose

Austrailia
Summary:
To produce rayon the old fashioned way it needs chemically intense processing of wood pulp or plant fibers. The cellulose that’s extracted is treated with caustic soda, carbon disulfide, and sulfuric acid. You’re no doubt familiar with how nasty sulfuric acid can be, but carbon disulfide is usually dangerous stuff, too and it’s exposure can lead to cramps, muscle weakness, and a loss of feeling in the extremities.
